The Real Social Network. Facebook Offline. 0

Ever wondered what would Facebook look like in real life? For a group of crazy Australians obviously this was a hot and pressing topic so they organized something of a “Facebook for real” kind of trial. People on the street were randomnly asked the same questions they have to answer when they join the social network but have to shout them out loud to everyone around them. This attempt may be just for the fun of it but we all should be aware that apart from the hilarity of a TV show the Facebook and related privacy issues are becoming more and more troublesome.

Twitter as Fuel. Mercedes Tweet Race 0

In case you’ve missed it back in February, here’s a recap of one of the most engaging twitter campaigns after Old Spice – the Mercedes Benz Tweet Race. This case study not only proves its undeniable success, but also shows one of the many creative ways to use the microblogging platform for digital marketing. In this campaign tweets were used as fuel to power up three real-life racing teams equipped with specially modified Mercs with a main goal – having fun on Twitter, engaging the carmaker’s audience and bringing online value to the brand. More than 150K tweets were send to power up the cars and these generated over 500M views. Additional 2 million people saw the campaign videos and over a million of them were continually engaged in following the campaign’s progress. And guess what… there was no prize involved!
Apart from pure numbers, it showed simple, yet enjoyable ways to get involved with a brands digital presence and generate a large number of generic and loyal leads. It was created by Razorfish.

Russian Facebook Roulette 0

Are you tired, bored, disgusted, fed-up of Facebook already. Why don’t we kill it for you!? This is the first thought that came into my mind when I first saw this video concept. It’s the coolest way to finish off your Facebook profile with a bang and then have a shot of crystal clear alomst frozen Russian Standard Vodka. Made by a few Russian students in a European Ad School, this Facebook app seems too perfect to be true… and it’s not, of course. At least for the time being. It’s almost like the real thing with the little differnce being that you don’t play the Russian Roulette for your real life, but instead your virtual one. It connects you to 4 of your friends in the social network and let’s you all pull the trigger to a real gun, located somewhere in the tundra. The one that shoots the only bullet in its barrel gets his Facebook profile busted for real. And guess what.. you even got to post your last words on your wall before it RIPs. :D DD Excellent idea and kudos to Ilya Malyanov! #FTW

Facebook Blood Groups 1

Is this the most meaningful use of Facebook Groups to date? Perhaps it is… A very clever campaign, coming once again from Israel, show us how to turn “Likes” into Lives. It’s coming from the local agency TwentyThree and is dedicated to help victims of terrorist attacks and incidents find a suitable blood donor to help with their emergency room treatment when most in need. The Facebook Blood Groups campaign was developed on behalf of the state NATAL emergency trauma center and features Groups for every Blood Type utilising to the max the forgotten functionalities of that FB feature. You can mass message members of certain group when you need rapid reaction thus helping spread the word in an emergency, when other channels prove to be slower. This really is the way to get huge exposure with zero budget and save a life.

Scadoosh Yourself on YouTube with Kung-Fu Panda 0

We’ve seen many YouTube campaigns but this latest one from DreamWorks Animation beats them all to date. For the first time in a while we could say that the headline is worthwhile and you really gotta see it to believe it. It’s a better and leveled approach to a full YouTube takeover that results in… a full takeover :) The first Kung-Fu Panda was an amazing movie with a very good integrated marketing campaign that featured many digital innovations – probably reflecting the way the whole animated feature was produced, using the latest HP technology and serving as excellent basis for cross-marketing. The sequel looks nontheless promising in every respect, including the aforementioned two. We particularly liked the color tones and it seems the typical pastel look is here to stay. Just watch the following video and immerse yourself into scadooshisness…

Planeta Terra VW twitter campaign 0

It may be more than 6 months ago, but this is one of the trendsetting twitter campaigns to follow as a best practice for many companies in 2011. It’s a simple idea that went massive in Sao Paulo in November 2010 during the annual Planeta Terra festival. Users were asked to tweet the hashtag #FoxatPlanetaTerra whenever they send a message on any topic. The avalanche resulted in top trending place for the hashtag for many days and the larger the number of messages – the bigger the zoom on an interactive map, showing the location of 10 hidden pairs of tickets for the musical event all over the city. More than 80K messages featuring the tag were send during the campaign, putting it at No.1 awareness effort for any brand in Brazil.

Tileyourself. KLM Interactive Facebook Campaign 3

KLM has emerged as one of the foremost pioneers in using cutting edge social media techniques among its rivals in the aviation industry. The latest campaign coming from “The Flying Dutchman” proves to be no less intriguing and effective… even in its early stages. Using a Facebook app the airline lets you create your own profile picture in the traditional Dutch Deltftware blue & white style, that can ultimately end up on the fuselage of one of KLM’s Boeing 777s as a special livery celebrating the Dutch heritage around the world. Brilliant idea and even more spectacular realization. It’s been less than a week since the campaign was launched and you can already see a plane full of profile tiles on the offical campaign website – Tileyourself. The Facebook app is fun to use and the resulting pictures are alomost a work of art. Well done KLM – another social media example to follow.
